Caye Caulker

We only spent ten days in Belize but a major highlight was Caye Caulker. Belize has several different Cayes that you can get to by ferry from Belize City. We went to the smaller Caye, Caye Caulker and did a snorkeling tour with Raggamuffin Tours (AKA Barefoot Expeditions) to the second largest Barrier Reef in the world. We saw nurse sharks, stingrays, tons of different colorful fish, awesome coral, a seahorse and an octopus!! By far, the best snorkeling I’ve done. There are tons of companies all over Caye Caulker that offer snorkeling tours, diving tours, sunset tours and booze cruises so…there is a little something for everyone.

San Ignacio: Green Iguana Conservation Project

On the border of Belize and Guatemala, there is a small town called San Ignacio and in this town is an Iguana Sanctuary. The actual sanctuary is located in the San Ignacio Resort Hotel. We really enjoyed taking a tour of the sanctuary and learning more about iguanas while Lucas loved petting and befriending them. If you happen to be in the area, this is something fun to do.
